Rushing the Rations
Tim Garner collection
This World War II-era ad from 1943 talks about PRR's efforts to move food over the rails at "virtually the same freight rates prevailing in 1939." They also were telling patrons to expect possible passenger train delays for these critical shipments. The number of PRR employees in the armed forces rose to 35,661 and losses to 53.
