Jack's Narrows, Pa. Postcard
The PRR passed through Jack's Narrows between Mt. Union and Mapleton on the Middle Division in central Pennsylvania. This postcard view looks east from the Mapleton end of the gap. Though the image is postmarked May 1, 1909 in Clearfield, Pa., the photo probably older than 1900. PRR four-tracked the mainline through here in 1907. The Juniata River is 584 feet above sea level at this point and Jack's Mountain rises to 1770 feet on either side.
